AGE DETERMINATION: The athlete's year of birth shall determine the age division in which he/she will compete:

ENTRY DEADLINE: Entries must be received no later than Friday, July 16, 1999. All Track & Field and Multi-Events forms are to be sent to the appropriate addresses below. It is important that all forms be completed and returned with the entry fee. ALL ENTRIES MUST BE RECEIVED BY THE DEADLINE DATE OR YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO COMPETE. NO EXCEPTIONS! BOTH COPIES OF THE ENTRY FORM MUST BE RETURNED TO THE 1999 AAU JUNIOR OLYMPIC GAMES OFFICE. DO NOT FOR ANY REASON KEEP EITHER COPY!

The Local Organizing Committee has spent many hours planning and preparing for this event. In order to make it a great success, we are asking for your cooperation. It is the responsibility of the coach, designated person of the club, or athlete to return ALL the necessary monies and completed forms by the deadline date. It is not the responsibility of the LOC or the AAU to make sure all are completed, ONLY TO ACCEPT OR REJECT ENTRY (S) BASED ON DOCUMENTS SUBMITTED.

ENTRY FEE: $26.00 per athlete for Multi-Events

AAU MEMBERSHIP: All athletes and coaches must be members of their AAU Associations prior to their Association meet, and be able to present their AAU membership cards at time of check-in. All relay teams must present current 1999 AAU Club membership at check-in.

QUALIFICATION: Track & Field: To be eligible for competition, you must have placed first, second, third, or fourth in an individual event or a relay at your 1999 AAU Regional Track and Field Championship. These are the only methods of qualification for competition in this event. * NO WAIVERS WILL BE GRANTED.

MULTI-EVENT SCORING TABLES: The 1985 IAAF scoring tables will be used for the Intermediates and Young Women and Men. The 1971 IAAF Women's Tables will be used for both boys and girls in the Sub Bantam, Bantam, Sub Midget, Midget, and Youth Divisions.

MULTI-EVENTS RULES: The rules of the NGB shall apply, with the following Multi-Events differences:

AWARDS: AAU Junior Olympic Games medals will be awarded to the top eight (8) finishers in each age division and plaques will be awarded for the top three (3) relay team members. The first place finisher and first place relay team in each age division will be honored as "All America" and receive the appropriate certificate and patch.

CHECK-IN Pre-Registration: It is extremely important that all entries be received at the 1999 AAU JUNIOR OLYMPIC GAMES office no later than the previously mentioned deadline date. ENTRY FORM (S) RECEIVED BEYOND THAT DATE WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED! Of course, we want as many athletes as possible to participate, so please get all entry forms in on time. AGAIN, GUARANTEED OVERNIGHT DELIVERY WILL BECOME MANDATORY IF IT IS THE ONLY WAY TO ENSURE COMPLIANCE WITH THE DEADLINE DATE!

RACE # PICK-UP: No bib numbers will be issued at the track! The replacement cost for any lost bib number (regardless of the circumstances) will be $10.00. All race numbers (multi-events included) must be picked up at the central athlete check-in location, which will be located at the Cleveland Convention Center. Race (bib) number pick-up is a MANDATORY part of the athlete check-in process. Multi-event athletes competing in the track and field competition will use the same race number for both competitions. It is the responsibility of the head coach and parents to ensure that all of his/her athletes receive their race (bib) numbers as part of the check-in process. Coaches may pick up the numbers for their athletes.

CLUB COACHES: For Track & Field coaches only. At this year's event, coaches submitting entry forms as a club/team will receive coach's credentials based on the following formula (Only if all returned entries are included in the same packet/envelope):

COOLERS/TENTS: Due to Baldwin-Wallace College regulations and its track and field stadium seating capacity, no tents of any kind, shape, or size will be allowed into the Stadium. A designated area adjacent to the track on the outside of the stadium will be available for athletes, coaches, and parents to set-up rest/shaded areas as needed.

CELEBRATION

CEREMONY: Celebration Ceremony will be held at Gund Arena on Wednesday, August 4 at 7:30 pm. To facilitate your arrival at the event, the Local Organizing Committee is setting up a hassle free transportation system that will make scheduled pick-ups at convenient locations throughout the Cleveland area and deliver you right to the arena doors. At the conclusion of the Celebration Ceremony, you will board the shuttles and be returned to your parking location. In order to arrive at the arena in time for the festivities, please plan to use the transportation system by utilizing the parking lots located close to your hotel. (A detailed map and parking directions will be provided at athlete check-in at the Cleveland Convention Center). Enjoy the spectacular show without the hassle of restrictive parking. Please be sure to fill out the appropriate section of your Event Registration Forms so that we can accurately plan to have enough shuttles at designated locations to pick you up! We look forward to seeing you at this year's Celebration Ceremony!
