AGE DIVISIONS: Girls: 14 & Under, 16 & Under, 18 & Under

QUALIFICATION: This is an OPEN competition. Entries are limited. Entry spots will be held for national and regional champions in each division. All athletes must be current AAU members. AAU membership is $10 per athlete and can be obtained by contacting your local Association at 1-800-AAU-4USA or registering on-line at www.aausports.org.

ENTRY DEADLINE: Team Entry must be received by Friday, July 16, 1999. Overnight delivery is strongly advised.

ENTRY FEE: $30.00 per team, non-refundable entry fee. Entry fee must be in the form of either a cashier's check or money order. No personal checks will be accepted. Please make check payable to 1999 AAU JUNIOR OLYMPIC GAMES

COACHES: Coaches are permitted, but not required . Coaches must be AAU members ($14 per coach). Registration fee is $25, which will allow access into the venue and the Opening Ceremonies. To receive an AAU Junior Olympic Games coaches' registration form, call the AAU National Headquarters at 407-934-7200.

FORMAT: Pool-play format will be used with the top teams in each age division advancing to a championship single elimination bracket. The number of teams advancing will be determined by the number of teams entered. Format subjected to change based on the number of entries. Each team will be scheduled at least three games.

OFFICIATING: Teams will be required to officiate matches. During pool play, officiating assignments will be scheduled. During bracket play, the losing team must officiate. The penalty for not fulfilling your assignments is elimination from future AAU Beach Volleyball tournaments. Certified officials will be provided for championship matches.

RULES OF PLAY: USA Volleyball rules will be followed, with modifications from the AAU Beach Volleyball Committee.

CHECK-IN: Pre-Registration: It is extremely important that all entries be received in Cleveland no later than the above-mentioned deadline date. ENTRY FORM (S) RECEIVED BEYOND THAT DATE WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED UNLESS SPECIAL PERMISSION IS GRANTED! Of course, we want as many athletes as possible to participate, so please get all entry forms in on time. Again, guaranteed overnight delivery will become mandatory if it is the only way to ensure compliance with the deadline.

CHECK-IN DIRECTIONS: From the South: Take either I-77 or I-71 North into downtown Cleveland. Exit at the East 9th Street exit. Follow East 9th Street North to St. Clair Avenue. Turn left onto St. Clair. The Cleveland Convention Center will be on the right side after the East 6th Street traffic light.

SANCTION: This event is sanctioned by the Amateur Athletic Union. All participants and coaches in this event must have current AAU membership cards. Register on-line at www.aausports.org or contact your local AAU Association at 1-800-AAU-4USA for membership information.

ELIGIBILITY: All players should be prepared to provide valid proof of age at team check-in. (Hospital records are not acceptable!)

AWARDS: The top four teams in each age division will receive special gold, silver, bronze and copper AAU Junior Olympic Games medals.

HOUSING: All requests for housing will be handled by LCI Travel. Simply call our toll free number at 1-888-524-8785. A list of hotels and areas in which they are located can be found in the Athletes', Coaches', and Parents' Handbook, review this information and then call the reservations number. Be sure to have the following information ready:

Dormitory Housing will also be available at Cleveland State University and Baldwin-Wallace College. Ask the operator for details!

CELEBRATION CEREMONY: The Celebration Ceremony will be held at the Gund Arena on Wednesday, August 4 at 7:30 pm. To facilitate your arrival at the event, the Organizing Committee is setting up a hassle free transportation system that will make scheduled pick-ups at convenient locations throughout the Cleveland Area and deliver you right to the arena doors. At the conclusion of the Celebration Ceremony, you will board the shuttles and be returned to your parking location. In order to arrive at the arena in time for the festivities, please plan to use the transportation system by utilizing the parking lots located close to your hotel. (A detailed map and parking directions will be provided at athlete check-in at the Cleveland Convention Center). Enjoy the spectacular show without the hassle of restrictive parking. Please be sure to fill out the appropriate section of your Event Registration Forms so that we can accurately plan to have enough shuttles at designated locations to pick you up! We look forward to seeing you at this year's Celebration Ceremony!

TRANSPORTATION: Participants are responsible for their own transportation to and from all competition venues.
